While surfing the web this week I came across this site (http:www.christianprayercenter.com/submit.cgi) which offers to pray for people. They also tell you that they will have thousands of others praying for you also. But the catch is that when You go to another page to fill out your request at the mid section of the page there appears different pay scales of offerings that you MUST select in order for your prayer to be processed. When you just try to send the request the page pops out a message box telling you that you MUST choose an offering in order to send your request. Now how ridiculous is that? Paying to get prayed for? Or paying for a prayer request to be made? What is this? modern day money changers selling prayer request in front of the temple of G-d? Does G-d charge us every time we approach him in prayer or charges us to hear prayers?? I image at this point that Yeshua (Jesus) would have kicked over their tables by now! But this just goes to show that unbiblical activity is growing among Christians and is getting worse. They even misuse scripture to justify their works. Here’s something to meditate on:

 Prayer is not for sale!

The foresaid website lists this scripture:

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you

Again this is NOT a prescription for convincing people to give money in order to get prayers answered! Actually the scripture here is dealing with selfish people who have abundance but never use it to aid the less fortunate. Yeshua (Jesus) says to them, “GIVE and it shall be GIVEN (more so) to you”! If you wish to excel in more blessing than give a worthy blessing that one may continue to be given back in abundance. He was not talking about prayer requests. In Jewish circles of the day giving to the poor was expected from those who were well to do. Even G-d set apart the corners of the Harvest because it belonged to the poor (Lev 23:22). It was his portion from the Lord. Those who obeyed the mosaic Law then continued to be blessed in abundance. But when the nation disobeyed and ceased to give they too lost their blessings. Giving your money to someone in order to get your prayers heard is not what G-d expects. Prayer is given out of a free service of G-ds Love and he doesn’t charge you for it. Believers should seek the scriptures for themselves on prayer not fall for or get douped into believing these schemes.
